Rajkot: In a major house break-in incident in Jamnagar's Anand Nagar area, thieves reportedly took away jewellery worth Rs 46 lakh by breaking a cupboard on Thursday night. According to police, thieves entered the house of Aftab Sheikh, a resident of Navagam (Ghed) in Jamnagar. Sheikh, who owns the Royal Rajput Security Agency, lived upstairs in his two-storey house, while his mother stayed on the ground floor. However, she passed away a few days ago, and the house remained closed for sometime. Two of his brothers also live in the same area. The entire family’s jewellery estimated to be around 100 tolas was being kept with the their mother, said cops. “The family was busy in post-death rituals of their mother and thieves took advantage of it. They broke only the cupboard and took away the jewellery worth around Rs 46 lakh,” police sources. Cops suspect an insider’s role in this burglary and have launched a probe after filing an FIR in this regard.
