Navelim MLA and veteran Congress leader Luizinho Faleiro praised the field employees of the state electricity department who worked tirelessly in all five village Panchayats of his constituency to restore the power supply after the devastation caused by cyclone Tauktae.

In recognition to their undaunted and persistent efforts, inspite of stormy winds and rains, Faleiro recently presented them with a memento of commendation and a gift through the hands of the Power Minister Nilesh Cabral and himself.

“When I took over as the MLA of Navelim in 2017, we had just 6.3 MV current available, we then incremented the KRC substation by an additional 10 MVA to 16.3 MVA. Now with the renovation and construction of the 40 MVA substation at Davorlim at a cost of Rs 15.92 crore, this will increment the power output to 56.3 MVA which should eventually stabilize the power demands in Navelim,” Faleiro said.

He expressed his deep gratitude to Power Minister Nilesh Cabral for sanctioning various power infrastructure enhancement works including eight transformers and also Rs 2.17 crore to provide LT network in the Panchayats of Navelim, Aquem Baixo, Telaulim and Davorlim.

Cabral has also approved Rs 65 crore in June 2019 for the underground cabling work including upgradation and construction of 104 transformers which are to be installed throughout the constituency.

Faleiro has urged the Minister to expedite the sanctioning process of the underground cabling so as to start the work and also construction work of the substation.
