Chandigarh, May 28

A resident of Sector 29 fell prey to an online fraud after a miscreant allegedly managed to make a transaction of Rs27,000 from his credit card.

Complainant Hariom Sharma reported that he had received a call from a man, who introduced himself an executive of the RBL Bank. The miscreant told the victim that he had requested blocking his credit card and sent him an OTP for the same. The victim shared the OTP with the fraudster, who made a transaction from his credit card.

Interestingly, the victim had never used his credit card. “I was shocked to find that even though I didn’t reveal any information related to my credit card. The fraudster managed to make a transaction from my card that has not been used even once by me,” he said.

The victim submitted a complaint to the Chandigarh Police. The matter is now being investigated by the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell.
