Active cases swell as state logs 732 new cases, 13 deaths

Imphal, May 28 2021:
As the state reported 732 new cases and 13 fatalities on Friday, the caseload has reached 7602.Out of the total active cases, 4512 are recuperating in home isolation and the remaining 2190 undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
In the last 24 hours, 327 patients under home isolation have been referred to healthcare facilities.
As positivity rate remains high, the last seven days reported 5278 new cases and 100 death cases while 16,257 new cases and 356 death cases were added during the current month.
In all, 19,655 positive cases and 406 fatalities have been recorded so far since the beginning of the year.
The 13 fatalities reported on Friday included a 43-year old male (Tbl), an 85-year old male (Tbl), a 55-year old female (Bpr), a 68-year old male (Bpr), a 63-year old male (IW), a 41-year old female (IE), a 76-year old male (Ukl), a 75-year old male (IW), a 31-year old female (IW), a 73-year old female (IE), an 84-year old female (IW), a 62-year old male (IE) and a 60-year old female (IE), who died at DH Thoubal (2), CCC Bishnupur (2), Shija Hospitals (2), DH Ukhrul (1), RIMS (4) and JNIMS (2) hospital respectively.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 761.According to official reports, the 732 new cases included 731 people (363 male & 368 female) from among the general population and one Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawan.
Their samples were tested at RIMS (5), JNIMS (85), District Hospitals (358) and other private testing centres (284) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (170), Imphal West (213), Thoubal (83), Bishnupur (73), Kakching (64), Ukhrul (19), Churachandpur (62), Chandel (4), Senapati (5), Tamenglong (6), Tengnoupal (1), Kangpokpi (19), Jiribam (3), Noney (3) and Pherzawl (6) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 579 patients were discharged from CAPF (24), home isolation (472), RIMS (5), NIMS (4), BB (7), NSU (13), SHRI (14), RD Wing (2), LANVA (6), Babina Speciality Hospital (1), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (11), Thoubal (3), Ukhrul (7) and Churachandpur (10) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 47,843 (general population - 44,092 and CAPF personnel - 3,751) .
Number of recovered cases is 39,480 (general population - 35.807 and CAPF personnel - 3,673) and number of active cases is 7,602 (general population - 7,529 and CAPF personnel - 73) .
The recovery rate is 82.52 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1580 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 592 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities.
District Hospital and government institutions have 204D, 73B type filled cylinders and the district and sub-division-wise allocation is Bishnupur (13D, 10B), Chandel (17D,4B), Churachandpur (64D,0B), Thoubal (51D,24B), Ukhrul (14D,0B), Jiribam (20D,10B), Moreh (3D,6B), Mao (4D,6B), Kakching (5D,8B), Kangpokp i(5D,1B), Pherzawl (4D,3B), Kamjong (3D,1B) and Tamenglong (20D,14B).As of Thursday, 3,70,500 individuals have been administered Covid-19 vaccine and out of them 79964 beneficiaries received their second dose.
Meanwhile, 53 new positive cases have been detected during RAT in Kakching district on Friday.
Two of them were detected at Ema Hospital, 10 at Jivan Hospital and 41 at government RAT centre.
Out of the 53 new cases, one is a resident of Thoubal district and the remaining from Kakching district.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (17,229), Imphal East (11,036), Thoubal (3445), Churachandpur (3367), Kangpokpi (1431), Tamenglong (1715), Bishnupur (2586), Senapati (1164), Ukhrul (1105), Kakching (2040), Chandel (849), Noney (502), Tengnoupal (499), Jiribam (433), Kamjong (380), and Pherzawl (62).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (291), Imphal East (198), Thoubal (74), Churachandpur (56), Kangpokpi (20), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (50), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (9), Kakching (31), Chandel (12), Noney (1), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated requests of this daily.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 15,418 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 19,882 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,26,067 tests per million population against the national average of 2,43,522 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 4307 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 17 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rose to 6.82 per cent.
