Indore: Despite Corona Curfew, theft incidents are increasing in the city. Now posh areas of the city are on the target of thieves. Two thieves targeted the house of former DAVV vice-chancellor Dr Bharat Chhaparwal and fled with cash and other valuables worth Rs 50,000 from there in the wee hours of Friday.
The incident took place at Dr Chhaparwal’s bungalow in Ratlam Kothi area of the city. Thieves entered the house after breaking open the grill of a window and decamped with cash, gold ornaments and three idols.
Sanyogitaganj police station in-charge Rajeev Tripathi said that the family members were sleeping on the upper floor of their bungalow when the thieves entered the house from the ground floor. Two suspects have been captured in a CCTV installed near the spot. The police claimed that the accused will be arrested soon. A case was registered by the police on the complaint of Dr Chhaparwal’s son Dr Dheeraj Chhaparwal.
After committing theft at Chhaparwal's house, the thieves also tried to enter the house of one Manoj Khajanchi situated in front of Chhaparwal’s bungalow. The miscreants broke open the window grill but they could not enter the house.
Engineer informed DGP after theft incident
The criminals are committing thefts without fear of the police. Two days ago, thieves entered the house of Vijendra Barania, assistant engineer of Doordarshan, under Palasia police station jurisdiction. Thieves entered the house after breaking open the lock of the house. After coming to know of the theft incident, Barania had directly informed DGP over phone after which the DIG, SP and other officials reached the spot and a case was registered. Most theft incidents are being reported from the eastern area of the city during the Corona Curfew.
