New Delhi: India reported 1,86,364 fresh on Friday Covid-19 cases while 3,660 patients before the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.
This is the second time since April 14 that India has recorded less than two lakh cases Covid. As of May 25, India had 1.96 lakh cases of Covid, for the first time since 14 April.
The deaths also remained below 4,000 for two consecutive days.
India’s overall score of Covid-19 cases now stand at 2,75,55,457 with 23,43,152 active cases and so far 3,18,895 deaths.
According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 2,599,459 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, with 2,48,93,410 cured of Covid up to date.
The Ministry of Health said that so far 20,57,20,660 people have been vaccinated in the country so far, including 29,19,699 people who have been administered in the past 24 hours.
According to the Indian Medical Research Council, 33,90,39,861 samples were tested until 27 May for Covid-19. Of these 20,70,508 samples were tested on Thursday.
In the last 17 days, India has recorded more than 65,000 deaths. On Monday, India hit a grim milestone of three-lakh deaths due to the coronavirus infections, becoming the third country in the world after the US and Brazil to cross three lacquer deaths.
India has record deaths due to Covid exactly one week back with 4529 deaths – the highest number of deaths since Covid infection in any country since the coronavirus outbreak was reported in China in Wuhan in December 2019.
It surpassed 4,468 deaths in the U.S. on January 12, and earlier 4,211 in Brazil on April 6.
After struggling for weeks with a cruel second wave, fresh Covid business fell below the three lakh mark for the first time on 17 May after hitting a record high of 4,14,188 on 7 May.
