Gurgaon: The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (
MCG) has constituted teams to check whether shops in the city’s markets are following the guidelines issued by the administration. The teams issued
challans to 15 shops in
Sadar Bazar found to be open in violation of the left-right rule on Thursday.
MCG teams are checking crowded markets like Sadar Bazar, Jacobpura and Old railway road and imposing penalties for violation of the norms. In markets like Sadar Bazar, shops on the left and right sides of the road have been told to open on alternate days. But the shops don’t have defined numbers and the market has entry from two sides, making it difficult to decide the left and right sides.
MCG has marked the sides so that shops can open accordingly. “Crowded markets will be checked by our teams since there have been complaints that some traders are not adhering to the guidelines to follow odd-even rules. My enforcement team and I visited Sadar Bazar, Jacobpura and other adjoining markets on Thursday and found 15 shops open on the wrong side. These shops have been issued challans and will be under surveillance now,” said Jitender Garg, MCG joint commissioner-2.
Deputy commissioner Yash Garg said restrictions have been lifted considering the impact of lockdown on businesses, but people are thronging markets due to which Covid-19 can spread further.
