BENGALURU: Rumblings within the state
BJP over change of leadership grew louder with tourism and environment minister
CP Yogeeshwara openly criticising chief minister BS
Yediyurappa and his son.
"Our government is not a pure BJP one but of three parties (BJP,
Congress and JDS). There is some kind of adjustment which is hurting many in the party,'' he said to highlight the prominence Yediyurappa allegedly has given opposition leaders and MLAs in development works and release of grants.
Yogeeshwara also alleged interference in his department and claimed it continued despite objection. "My son cannot run my department only because I'm the minister. Some people are interfering in my department matters which is not acceptable," Yogeshwara said without naming but referring to Yediyurappa's son BY Vijayendra.
Rural development and panchayat raj minister KS Eshwarappa had earlier complained to governor
Vajubhai Vala and party leaders against the chief minister interfering in administration of his department.
On his visit to Delhi with some MLAs, which triggered speculation that efforts are on to unseat the chief minister, Yogeeshwara said the visit had nothing to do with the leadership change.
On support to Yediyurappa on leadership, he said: "I'll share my opinion at the party forum when the matter comes up.''
Yediyurappa chided Yogeshwara and other detractors: "The only thing before me is controlling Covid and my priority is protecting the interests of the people. If some have gone somewhere, they have been given the right answers (by the high command)."
Chief minister's political secretary MP Renukacharya demanded Yogeeshwara's arrest for his alleged role in the Mega City scam reported over ten years ago. "The party has made him a minister though he's a habitual party-hopper and lost the 2018 assembly elections. Yet, he's indulging in anti-party activities. The party should teach him a lesson," he added. Ministers Byrati Basavaraju and V Somanna as well as MLAs Rajugouda, MP
Kumaraswamy and others demanded action against Yogeeshwara for raking up the leadership issue.
