Covid-19 claims 15 lives, 141 more test positive in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: Covid-19 claimed 15 more lives in the city on Thursday, while 141 more people tested positive for the disease. At the same time, 418 patients recovered in the past 24 hours, taking the number of active infections to 3,982 — going below 4,000 for the first time in 56 days.

Overall, the second wave has infected 1.54 lakh people, of whom 1.50 lakh have recovered, while 1,259 died. In May so far, 32,072 people have tested positive while 644 died, with recoveries at 71,907. Meanwhile, 13,677 people, including 5,885 women in the 18 to 44 age group, took their first jab on Thursday. Overall, 17,717 beneficiaries took shots during the drive carried out at 114 sites - 112 government centres and two private ones.

In the 45-59 age group, about 2,608 persons took the first shot and 327 the second. In 60 years and above category, 791 came for the first dose and 152 for the second. Around 73 healthcare workers and 89 frontline workers also took their due doses.
