The Sharks have sealed a new deal with one of their promising scrumhalves, Jaden Hendrikse, who has opted to remain with the Durban franchise.
The 21-year-old signed a new contract keeping him at the Shark Tank until 2023, his management team Esportif announced on Instagram.
The former Glenwood High School pupil is loving life as a Shark, especially after wresting the No 9 jersey from his good mate and former SA Under-20 team-mate Sanele Nohamba.
The pair, along with Grant Williams, are part of a young core of talented Sharks scrumhalves that should see the franchise in good stead in the position long into the future.
Hendrikse moved to Durban from King William's Town as a talented rugby and cricket-playing schoolboy from Dale Primary School to Glenwood, where he first found the going tough as a kid adjusting to a new environment.
However, like he told Sport24 exclusively last week, as his schoolboy rugby career grew so did his love for the east coast city.
"The first two years in Durban were actually very tough and you'd count down the days until you're going home again during a school break," said Hendrikse.
"I like both sports cricket and rugby but because of a PCL injury in high school, I couldn’t play cricket in my final year. But I was always going to play rugby.
"Once I started playing Grant Khomo (Under-16 Youth Week) it goes very quickly and you're used to Durban by that point.
"At this moment I don't feel like I can stay more than two weeks at home, because I'm so used to Durban."
Esportif agency also announced that burrowing loosehead prop Ntuthuko Mchunu, 22, also signed a contract extension to stay with the Sharks until 2023.
