CUNY Law Film Fest: The Trial of the Chicago 7

Join Lee Weiner, former member of the Chicago Seven and author of Conspiracy to Riot: The Life and Times of One of the Chicago 7; Daniel Greenberg, former pro bono special counsel, president and attorney-in-chief of the Legal Aid Society, CUNY Law Board of Visitors member since ’87, and co-editor of The Trial of the Chicago 7; and Professor Victor Goode, founding CUNY Law faculty member and former Executive Director of the National Conference of Black Lawyers.

The Academy Award-nominated film Theis based on the infamous 1969 trial spotlighting the Chicago Seven, a group of anti–Vietnam War protesters charged with conspiracy and crossing state lines with the intention of “inciting riots” at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The courtroom drama is a look inside the political pressure cooker and counter-culture movements at the heart of America as the nation grappled with war, racism, and competing ideologies.
