SANAWAD (KHARGONE): Sanawad MLA Sachin Birla sanctioned Rs 10 lakh from MLA funds for development work at Navghat Khedi cremation site on the banks of the Narmada river.
Birla said that sheds and a water tank will also be constructed and a watchman will be appointed at the site. Notably, large number of cremation has been done on the bank of Narmada river.
A cleaning contract will be floated through Gram Panchayat. During the rainy season the shed and retaining wall suffered damage. The administration has worked out a proposal for Rs 42 lakh for the reconstruction.
Birla directed chief executive officer OP Sharma to get the work done within 2 months. A social worker Suganchand Rokadia said that people were avoiding the site due to the lack of necessary facilities. Sub-divisional magistrate Samant Jain, social workers Vimalchand Chhajed, Nilesh Rokadia, Ganesh Patel were present.
