Delta Electronics (Thailand) is developing robots for precision assembly and hazardous environments, and for safety reasons, the company's automation development is mainly heading toward the directions of reducing malfunctioning and waste of materials, and improving production efficiency, according to company president Jackie Chang.

Of the company's current manufacturing processes at its factories, nearly half have already met the criteria of the Delta Smart Manufacturing (DSM) system, which is designed to create efficient and flexible manufacturing processes, Chang said.

China, Japan, South Korea, the US and Germany are the top-5 markets for the robot industry with the five together accounting for 73% of overall global robot installation volumes.

Thailand's manufacturing volumes of robots are the 13th largest worldwide and sixth in Asia and number one in ASEAN. In Thailand, demand for robots mainly comes from automotive and electronics industries.
