“The storage management tool surfaces photos or videos you might want to delete — like blurry photos, screenshots and large videos — so you can get the most out of your storage,” says the company in a blog post explaining the tool.
The tool can come really handy to save space as these photos may be hogging up space in your Google Photos account and can be removed. As said above, it will help you find blurry photos, screenshots and large photos and videos directly from the app so that you can delete them and don’t have to go looking for them individually.
Here are the steps you need to follow to to use this new tool on Google Photos app
1.
Tap on your profile icon on the top right corner
2.
Tap on ‘Account storage’
3.
Tap on ‘Manage storage’
4.
Scroll down to ‘Review and delete’
5.
Tap on any of them — for instance ‘Blurry photos’
6.
Select the images you want to remove
7.
Tap on trash icon to delete
To recall, Google announced its storage policy for Google Photos in November last year. As per the new policy, the 15GB free storage that comes with every Google account will also include Google Photos. So far, the photos that users save in ‘high-quality’ are not part of this. As of now, this 15GB free data is shared across Google Drive, Docs and Gmail.
