Varanasi: Four more black fungus deaths in Kashi, toll 15

VARANASI: With four more fatalities between Tuesday and Wednesday, the black fungus or mucormycosis infection toll rose up to 15 in Varanasi while the figure of infected persons reached close to 100 at the Banaras Hindu University hospital.
However, as Amphotericine B injections required for treating black fungus infected patients could not reach the stock of the hospital, its authorities were taking help of medicines which can be used as an alternative to treat the patients.
Medical superintendent, BHU hospital Prof KK Gupta said, ”Since Tuesday till Wednesday afternoon, four more patients suffering from the fungal infection died during the course of treatment.”
