A minister in the newly-formed DMK Government of Tamil Nadu has given a controversial statement regarding North Indian Voters. Minister of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department PK Sekar Babu on Wednesday (May 26) has said that the North Indian people are economically empowered due to the Dravidian parties but they vote for BJP; he has accused the North Indian voters of betraying the Dravidian parties. A political controversy is now emerging on this matter.
Babu said that though the elected representatives of the party have worked for the North Indian residents and will continue to do so as they consider them "one of us". Babu`s remarks have drawn severe criticism from the BJP and some social media users.
Sekar Babu said, `I can see that you North Indian people are constantly getting rich but this is not happening because of BJP but because of Dravidian parties. They uplifted your standard of living, not BJP. Under some illusion, you have been continuously supporting that party. The North Indians did not vote for the Dravidian parties in 2011, 2014, 2016, 2019 and 2021. When we ask them whom did you vote they say it was us but DMK has got only 50 votes in this area; however, BJP got 250 votes. Shekhar Babu said this during a program organized for the distribution of ration in Chennai.
I can see you North Indians getting richer. It`s not because of BJP but Dravidian party. You`ve been voting not for us but for BJP. You say you voted for us but you cheat. Earlier there was ballot, now if we press button, it`ll show whom you voted for: Tamil Nadu min PK Sekar Babu pic.twitter.com/leb0ARLcOU
