AHMEDABAD: Although the state government has decided to cancel the Class X board examinations and promote all students, twins Hitesh and Harish Thakor, completed their Class X online schooling without a computer or even a smartphone.

Welcoming the decision of the state government to accord mass promotions to all Class X students, the 15-year-olds say that even if the exams were held, they would have passed.

“We do not have a smartphone in our house at all. My mother said we can buy a smartphone after finishing our Class X,” said Hitesh. On how they managed to study, as schools were only providing online education for the past year, the twins said they went to the house of a classmate, Ajay, once or twice a week and caught up on the online teaching.

Congratulations!

With no physical school for the past year, the twins have been manning their uncle’s vegetable cart. “We sell vegetables for about three hours in the morning and four hours in the evening. We spent the afternoons studying and sometimes would visit Ajay’s house to keep ourselves updated with the assignments given in online teaching,” said Harish.
The boys are students of Anjali Vidyalaya at Surelia Estate in the Amraiwadi area of the city and live close to the school. Hitesh and Harish stay with their mother and sister in the city, while their father Laxmansinh takes care of their farm at Devki Vansol village near Nadiad in Kheda district.

Their mother and elder sister work for a wiring company and the family lives in a rented house.
