Hyd: the IPS officer, the marriage exclusion norms for marriage subtract; he denies charges

Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer serving in Telangana ended up in the soup this week after allegations that he committed a boy’s wedding and violated the restrictions on closure were widely shared.

Rajiv Trivedi, the director general of the police for prisons, held his son’s wedding on Monday night at a venue in Chandulal Baradari in the old city of Hyderabad. The wedding raised eyebrows because it was only held during lock-in when various restrictions applied, but also because of allegations that several top officials in the state allegedly attended it.

He further said that only five members of his family attended the wedding and that the majority of those present, including the bride and groom, had vaccinated two doses much earlier.

Trivedi also said he had also held his older son’s wedding two days earlier, but no allegations were made about it.

When local media asked DGP Mahender Reddy about this wedding and when he was present, he suddenly evaded the question and walked away without responding.
