Open Fiber activates first gigabit fibre connections in Bergamo

Italian wholesale operator Open Fiber said the first commercial fibre-optic offers using its network are now available in the city of Bergamo in the northern Lombardy region. Residents living in a total of 13,000 premises in the city's Loreto, San Paolo, Borgo Palazzo, Boccaleone, San Colombano, Monterosso, Malpensata, Boccaleone and Carnovali districts can now sign up to FTTH connections at download speeds of up to 1Gbps, with the company eventually planning to reach 49,000 homes in Bergamo via a total of investment of EUR 20 million by 2022.
