PSL 2021: Is Pakistan Super League again going to get postponed?

PSL 2021: Clouds of postponement loom at large over the sixth edition the Pakistan Super League due to operational constraints and logistical issues and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) held an emergency meeting of franchise owners to review the situation.

The 2021 edition of the PSL was suspended mid-way after a number of COVID-19 cases emerged in the bio-bubble. According to a report by Pakistan’s leading news platform Geo News, the problems have emerged in getting permission to land chartered flights from South Africa and India.

During the meeting, the PCB officials sought some time to decide an alternative venue . The franchise owners, meanwhile, have suggested to postpone the tournament.

According to the report, hosting the remaining 20 PSL matches is proving to be difficult in the current situation and it is likely it may be moved out of Abu Dhabi.

Sharjah can be an option and will come under discussion during the meeting,” they said.

InsideSport reached out to PCB spokesperson for the comment and denied any such possibility.

PSL 2021: Flights delayed again

The departure of chartered flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the remaining matches of the PSL has been delayed due to some technical reasons.

This was the third time the officials and players departure was postponed, reported GEO News.

The flight was previously scheduled to leave for the UAE at 8:00 am on Wednesday, which was later rescheduled to Thursday, 3 pm.

Nearly 233 members including players and officials are locked up in a hotel in Lahore waiting to get a green signal.

Two chartered flights carrying over 230 passengers including cricketers, support staff, PCB officials and the production crew .

The Pakistan Cricket Board is planning to start the PSL remainders from 5th June but a final schedule is expected to be announced today.
