Imphal, May 26 2021: A high powered committee under the chairmanship of Executive Chairman, Manipur State Legal Services Authority has recommended release of nine undertrial prisoners from Central Jail, Sajiwa on interim bail or PR bonds to avoid overcrowding.

A statement issued by the MASLSA today said the committee also directed the Home Department in consultation with the health Department to provide all facilities including medical oxygen for emergency use in view of COVID-19 .

The Home Department, on priority basis, should constitute UTRCs (Under trial Review Committees) for Ukhrul, Kakching, Jiribam, Kamjong, Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Noney and Pherzawl districts.
