Maharashtra on Thursday witnessed less than 30,000 COVID-19 cases for the eighth consecutive day. The state recorded 21,273 new cases, taking the total number of active cases to 3,01,041. Besides, 425 COVID-19 deaths were reported in the day, taking the number of total fatalities to 92,225.
34,370 patients were discharged in the day, taking the tally to 52,76,203. The recovery rate in the state rose to 93.02%. The case fatality rate in the state is 1.63%.
Currently, 22,18,278 people are in home quarantine and 19,996 people are in institutional quarantine.
The Mumbai circle --which consists of MCGM, Thane, TMC, Navi Mumbai, KDMC, Ulhasnagar MC, Bhivandi Nijampur MC, Mira Bhayandar MC, Palghar, Vasai Virar MC, Raigad, Panvel MC--recorded 3265 new cases on Thursday.
The Nashik circle--which consists of Nashik, Nashik MC, Malegaon MC, Ahmednagar, Ahmednagar MC, Dhule, Dhule MC, Jalgaon, Jalgaon MC, Nandurbar--reported 2798 fresh COVID-19 cases.
The Pune circle--which includes Pune, PMC, PCMC, Solapur, Solapur MC, Satara--recorded 5848 new cases.
The Kolhapur circle reported 4156 new cases, Aurangabad circle 759, Latur circle 1315, Akola circle 2111, and Nagpur circle recorded 1021 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday expressed deep concern over the rate of growth in COVID-19 patients in excess of state average rate of 0.47% in 21 of the total 36 districts and high weekly positivity in 14 districts in excess of state average rate of 10.46%.
According to the health department the list of 21 districts with high weekly average growth in COVID-19 patients included Sindhudurg (2.71%), Ratnagiri (1.55%), Kolhapur (1.51%), Buldhana (1.43%), Satara (1.37%), Sangli (1.21%), Osmanabad (1.21%), Amravati (1.06%), Beed (1.01%), Akola (0.98%), Washim (0.92%), Yavatmal (0.92%), Solapur (0.86%), Ahmednagar (0.85%), Parbhani (0.64%), Hingoli (0.62%), Gadchiroli (0.61%), Jalna (0.57%), Wardha (0.55%), Palghar (0.49%) and Raigad (0.49%). This is more than the state’s weekly average of 0.47%.
Further, of the 36 districts, 14 districts with high weekly positivity included Sindhudurg (21.36%), Satara (20.02%), Ratnagiri (19.22%), Raigad (18.21%), Kolhapur (16.85%), Osmanabad (16.22%), Pune (16.16%), Sangli (15.47%), Hingoli (15.43%), Beed (13.48%), Amravati (12.86%), Thane (11.91%), Akola (11.74%) and Gadchiroli (10.75%). This is more than the state’s weekly average of 10.46%.
