Three Texas Police Officers Gunned Down in Flower Mound, Suspect At Large

A suspect remains at large after three officers were shot while responding to a report of a suicidal person in a suburb of Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday night, police said.

Police responded to the 2900 block of Termaine Drive in Flower Mound after receiving the 911 call shortly after 7 p.m.

On arrival, officers tried to contact the man, the sole occupant of the residence, when he opened fire and struck three officers, the Flower Mount Police Department said in a statement.

Police said officers returned fire, but police have had no contact with the man since the shooting.

Two officers were taken to hospitals and are in a stable condition, and later released, while the third was treated and cleared at the scene of the shooting.

WFAA reported that the suspect in the shooting had previously given his guns to the police department after an incident, but the weapons were returned to him earlier this month.

In an update posted on Facebook early Thursday, the police department wrote: "Thank you for the outpouring of support, kind thoughts, and prayers. The two officers who were transported to the hospital have been released, and all three are doing well."

Police warned residents to avoid the area.

"The 2900 block of Termaine Drive is still an active scene," the post said. "Please continue to avoid the area. We are still working toward a peaceful resolution to this incident."

No other information was immediately available.
