Hyderabad: It has been a few weeks since former Health Minister and alienated Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA Eatala Rajender was removed from the cabinet of Prime Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR). While speculating about Eatala’s next move, sources said Siasat.com that he tends to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, Telangana BJP leaders categorically said they were in no hurry to arrest him.
On Tuesday, President Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), prof. M. Kodandaram, and former Member of Parliament, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, meet with Eatala Rajender to provide support. “We have supported Eatala. No politics were discussed at the moment. If there were problems, they had to be sorted out, ”said prof. Kodandaram said Siasat.com. But, It is understood that Rajender is considering joining the BJP, mainly because he is concerned that the state government is behind him (because there is an investigation against him due to allegations of land grabbing)
As of now, Eatala Rajender has not announced any decision on its future. However, he met political leaders of the BJP, Congress and also others who intend to drive a new regional outfit. When questioned, however, senior BJP leaders clearly stated that they are not in a hurry to pursue Eatala Rajender as he does not bring in much organizational power with him.
“He just walks around and talks to people. If anyone had power, he would have resigned. He does not have the chance to win the seat in Huzurabad in a by-poll. All he had was the party behind him. Even during the separate state movement for Telangana, Eatala was not a big name. Nayini Narasimha Reddy, Prof Jaishanker, KCR, etc. Wash the faces of the movement. He is just a former follower of KCR, ‘says a BJP leader who does not want to be quoted.
BJP’s chief spokesperson for Telangana, Krishna Saagar Rao, said: ‘I can categorically accept that none of our leaders have reached out to Eatala Rajender. To be a colleague in the meeting, it is natural that our leaders talk to him. If he prefers to join BJP unconditionally, within his framework as an ideology, then that is fine. As a political party, we will not be able to tell anyone, “he added.
Rajender’s resignation from the cabinet also took place at a time when he was handling the continuation. COVID-19 pandemic as the former health minister. Things were also not rosy between him and KCR for some time, as Eatala had earlier also raised questions about the TRS’s ownership, set up by KCR to lead the separate Telangana state movement in the early 2000s.
As of now, Eatala Rajender has not resigned from the state assembly and is still technically with the ruling TRS in Telangana. It remains to be seen whether he will formally announce a decision soon. ‘Is it better to work under KCR or is it better with Bandi Sanjay (president of BJP Telangana)? Eatala wants protection from the central government, so he will go to the BJP. Even in the BJP, he will have to work there among other people, ” said a TRS leader, who also did not want to fetch.
Sources also informed Siasat.com that Kodandaram apparently advised Eatala Rajender not to be in a hurry, and to join the BJP, if that is what he was considering. “He was told that it was a wrong judgment and that he could join any party, but that it was not the time for that. He’s in the TRS, and the quarrel with him continues. As it is, people have sympathy with him so that he can consolidate his position, ‘the source added.
Political analyst Palwai Raghavendra Reddy said, however, that Eatala was overestimating its influence in Telangana. ‘If he goes to Congress and the BJP, he’s going to be a different leader. If he really needs to do something big now, he needs to start his own party and keep himself as the center of attention. “There is already a big conversation about another regional party,” he said.
