Surat: Cops organise farewell party for police inspector in lockdown

SURAT: Police commissioner Ajay Tomar on Thursday ordered probe after a video of the farewell party of an inspector went viral on social media.
A major controversy erupted out on Thursday after a video of the farewell party during curfew timing went viral.
The party violated state government's Covid guidelines, alleged AAP spokesperson Yogesh Jadvani.

In the video, a number of policemen in uniform are also seen. Among the cops sen in the video, one is AP Salaiya, police inspector of Singanpore police station. He was transferred to Economic Offence Cell on Tuesday. The party was organised by his colleagues of Singanpore police station in Kum Kum Party Plot on Wednesday evening.
"More than 100 cops were present in the party that continued during curfew time. Police punish common people by collecting heavy fines or registering FIR but here policemen themselves are violating the norms blatantly," said Jadvani.
"An inquiry has been ordered in the incident and ACP D division will lead the probe. Further actions will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry," sail PL Mal, additional commissioner of police, Sector 1.
