Bruno Mars has made history by becoming the first artist to have five singles reach diamond status in the US.

Just so you know how impressive this feat actually is, diamond certification is awarded by the RIAA to songs/albums that have sold 10 million (or more) units. It is the highest award bestowed by the association.

So in order to reach diamond status, you have to surpass standards for gold (500 000 units), platinum (1 million units) and multi-platinum (2 million+ units). And just for some extra math, 10-times platinum would then mean a single or album is eligible for the diamond award because it's reached the 10 million unit mark.

The RIAA shared the news on social media, writing: "Congratulations to @BrunoMars, the first + only artist in Gold & Platinum Awards history to earn FIVE Diamond Single Awards."

Responding to the news, Bruno tweeted: "Love you Hooligans. Thanks for rockin with me throughout this incredible journey. We've only just begun."

So which songs have helped Bruno set this record?

Take a look below:

1. Just the Way You Are (12-times platinum)

2. When I was your man (11-times platinum)

3. Grenade (10-times platinum)

4. Uptown Funk! (11-times platinum)

5. That's What I Like (10-times platinum)
