Germany's Scholz optimistic on minimum tax deal by end of summer

BERLIN, May 26 (Reuters) - German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz said he was optimistic that the countries of the OECD would reach agreement on minimum corporate tax levels in coming months.

"I am reasonably optimistic that we will reach agreement between the OECD countries by the end of the summer," he said in a speech in Berlin on Wednesday.

Scholz is his Social Democrat Party's candidate to succeed Chancellor Angela Merkel in a national election due in September. (Reporting by Thomas Escritt Editing by Madeline Chambers)
