ASUS Zephyrus Duo 15 Review: Mark of the beast

It’s really hard to review a gaming laptop that’s packed to the brim with essentials and then some more. After spending over two weeks with the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15, I have finally managed to scrape together few thoughts that you should know before buying this machine.

At First Look!

My review unit came with a bunch of accessories including a gaming headset and a ROG Chakram mouse. They only help make this super amazing laptop even better. The first thing that’ll come out of your mouth when you open this machine will most likely be “wow.” The ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 is a dual-screen laptop featuring a screen resolution of 3840 X 2160 on the main screen and 3840 X 1100 on the secondary touch screen. The quality of both these screens is fantastic. They show accurate colour and are bright enough to be used in a well-lit room or outdoors.

Although the main display features a 120hz refresh rate. It reduces to 60hz when you turn on both screens. The secondary touch screen has tremendous usage. You can either duplicate or extend your main display. Meaning you can easily do stuff like watching a video and taking notes at the same time. You can also use the secondary screen as a media folder when editing a video. Or you can continue to watch a video on it when you’re playing games on the main screen.

The laptop is also built extremely well and feels very durable. The chassis is made out of metal, which means there is absolutely no flex on the keyboard. Both the screens do have a little bit of flex but I am fine with it, to be honest. Despite packing two displays, the laptop maintains a slim profile. It is a bit on the heavier side in terms of weight but it still looks pretty slim.

The trackpad also works as a third screen. It replaces the Numpad region on the keyboard. Therefore it can be used either as a conventional trackpad or a virtual Numpad.

Performance of A Beast

The ROG Zephyrus 15 Duo is the most powerful laptop on the market right now. It is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS CPU, an Nvidia RTX 3080 GPU and 32 GB of system memory. ASUS knows you’ll be playing a lot of games, which is why this device has a 2 TB of super-fast SSD.

The gaming performance of this laptop is exhilarating, to say the least. It easily plays everything you throw at it. The laptop ran above 150 FPS in games like DOOM Eternal, Valorant, CS GO, and Rainbow Six Siege at 1440p resolution. In games like GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, the laptop easily delivered close to 140 and 100 FPS respectively at 1080p resolution ultra settings.

With this laptop, you’re easily set for at least two years of gaming at 1440p and ultra settings.

Verdict

The ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 represents the peak level performance of a gaming laptop in 2021. It is a powerful, slim, and gorgeous looking machine that will serve you well for years to come.
