AHMEDABAD: The
Gujarat government has announced that Class 12 board
exams will be held in the state from July 1.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by chief minister Vijay
Rupani and in the larger interest of 6.83 lakh Class 12
students in the state. The decision was taken in view of the coronavirus pandemic in the state, the state government said.
Giving details, education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said the
examination will include part-I science stream for 50 marks with multiple choice type questions and part-II descriptive written exam for 50 marks for three hours. In case of general stream students, descriptive exam for 100 marks will be conducted.
Some 6,83,000 students will give their examinations for Class 12. Of them, nearly 1,40,000 students will be of the science stream and 543,000 students will be of the general stream, it said.
For students who will not be able to take the upcoming exams due to Covid-19 or any other unavoidable reasons, fresh examinations of all the subjects with a new time-table and question papers will be conducted after 25 days. At the meeting, Rupani gave instructions to the education department to strictly follow the Covid-19 protocol while conducting the examinations.
