Three Coast Guard ships along with onboard helicopter, already on operational mission in the Bay of Bengal, have been diverted to coastal areas of both the states with the fastest speed to assess the situation in the area and render appropriate assistance to any mariner in distress. Bengal CM Holds Cyclone Review Meeting | West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee holds review meeting with District Magistrates, Disaster Management Committee, and other officials in view of Cyclone Yaas, in Nabanna.

Cyclone Yaas has complete the process of landfall. Rainfall will continue till tomorrow. Fishermen are advised not to venture till tomorrow morning because the sea condition going to be rough, Umashankar Das, Senior Scientist, Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar said, ANI reported.

Cyclone Yaas Completes Landfall, One Dead | One person dead in Ramnagar 2 block of East Midnapore in West Bengal. A youth who had moved to a cyclone shelter in the locality had come out of the shelter when the storm hit and he was drowned. The landfall of Cyclone Yaas completed in 3.5 hrs. 

With wind speeds of up to 140kmph, Yaas had the makings of an extreme cyclone as it made landfall on India's eastern coast.

Cyclone Yaas has crossed North Odisha coast about 20 km south of Balasore from 10:30 am to 11:30 am today with wind speed of 130-140 kmph gusting to 155 kmph. It then moved northwestwards and lay centred at 11:30 am over north coastal Odisha about 15 km south-southwest of Balasore, IMD said. 

Six Flights Cancelled at Mumbai Airport | Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Wednesday said as many as six flights, including three departures, have been cancelled in view of cyclone Yaas in the Bay of Bengal. In light of the developments around Cyclone Yaas in the Bay of Bengal, the airport witnessed cancellation of flights between Mumbai to Kolkata and Bhubaneswar, CSMIA said. Approximately six flights, three arrivals and departures each, have been cancelled so far, it said.

Jharkhand and Bengal to Receive Heavy Rainfall | West Bengal expected to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall today. Jharkhand will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall today and tomorrow with extremely heavy rainfall in isolated places: IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said. 

Odisha Hit, Cyclone Yaas Hurtles Towards Bengal | Cyclone Yaas began its almost four-hour-long landfall process at around 9.15 am south of Balasore district in Odisha, the IMD said. The weather department further predicted that the storm will turn into a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’ and is likely to make hit close to Dhamra Port (in Bhadrak district) and Balasore on the Odisha coast by Tuesday noon. Wind speeds of approximately 180-185 km per hour have been forecasted. READ MORE
