Srinagar, May 26 (UNI) One person was killed and two others were injured when a car in which they were travelling fell into a deep gorge on the Srinagar-Leh national highway on Wednesday, official sources said.
They said a car with three persons on board on way to Srinagar from Kargil in Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge at Batra, Drass.
However, rescue operation was immediately launched, they said, adding all the three seriously injured were rushed to hospital.
However, one of the injured identified as Mansoor Mehdi, resident of Panikhar Kargil was declared brought dead. The condition of two others identified as Asgar Ali and Mohammad Sadiq also residents of Panikhar was critical.
Police have registered a case and initiated proceedings, they added.
