The temporarily developed cremation grounds closed in Mowa, Saddu, Phundhar, Shankar Nagar and Nava Raipur. While four continue to operate. On Monday, 63 covid related deaths were reported across the state, of which Raipur district reported five deaths.
When Covid cases exploded in Raipur district in April, Raipur Municipal Corporation had developed more than a dozen crematory grounds in the capital city for Covid deceased. Now, after seeing the decline in Covid deaths in Raipur since over a week, 10 crematorium grounds were shut. The four grounds will be open for cremation of both—Covid and non-Covid dead bodies separately. Among these, separate arrangements will continue in Devendranagar Muktidham, Marwari Crematorium, crematory ground located near AIIMS at Tatibandh area and Gokulnagar Dham of Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Ward.
Meanwhile, the state’s recovery rate has increased to 92% from 87% in the past few days. Sukma and Rajnandgaon accounted for the highest recoveries with 97%, followed by 96% in Raipur and Durg, 95% in Dantewada and 94% in Balod and Bilaspur. In past one year 8,70,640 patients have recovered. Chhattisgarh’s positivity dipped to two-month low at 5.6%. Positivity rate in 25 districts is between 2% to 8%, said health officials. On Monday, Chhattisgarh recorded highest single day testing of 74,584 Covid samples across state, out of which 4209 cases were confirmed positive and 8685 patients recovered on same day.
State’s cumulative tally has jumped to 9,53,209 with 60938 active cases. With 60 deaths, death toll has increased to 12,646. On Monday, the positivity rate was 2% in Kanker, Narayanpur and Sukma districts. Currently, the positive rates is 3% in Durg, Rajnandgaon, Bemetara, Kabirdham and Sukma, 4% in Korba and Surguja, 5% in Raipur, Mahasamund, Bilaspur, Gorella-Pendra-Marwahi and Jashpur. 6% in Balod, Balodabazar, Mungeli, Bastar and Dantewada, 7% in Kondagaon and 8% in Gariyaband, Janjgir-Champa, Koriya and Balrampur-Ramanujganj.
