CHANDIGARH: A mystery texter was booked for abusing and threatening Haryana chief secretary Vijai Vardhan on WhatsApp. The Sector-26 police registered the case under the IT Act and moved it to the cyber cell. Vardhan reported the messages to be vulgar, threatening messages, and posted between 10.45am and 11.15am on May 21. Next day, the IAS officer filed a complaint at the SSP’s public window at the police headquarters in Sector 9 and it came to the cyber cell, which is now tracking the texter’s number. On April 18, the Sector 26 police had arrested a woman, Preeti Jhakhar of Jhajjar, Haryana, on the charges of trespassing Vardhan’s house in Sector 7 here and deterring a policeman from performing his duty. Police said she had tried to barge into the bureaucrat’s house without asking the security. A guard stop her but she, later, scaled the boundary wall to get into the chief secretary’s house.
