Covid-19: Uttar Pradesh logs 3,957 new cases, 163 fatalities in 24 hours

LUCKNOW: The number of active Covid cases in the state went below 70,000 on Tuesday. State health officials said 3,957 new cases and 10,441 recoveries were recorded in the past 24 hours. After adjustments, the state was left with 69,828 active cases which is more than 78% below the peak of 3.10 lakh recorded on April 30.
Meanwhile, the tally for cases in the state reached 16,77,508. Officials stated that of the total cases, 15,88,161 have recovered while 19,519 have died. As many as 163 deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours. Officials attributed the improved situation to the state’s aggressive policy of testing along with tracking and treating the positive persons.
They also said that the state had kept the number of tests above 2.8 lakh despite the decline in cases over the past 25 days.
It may be noted that active cases in the state are declining every day from May 1.
