New Delhi: India’s daily coronavirus cases fell below the 2-lakh mark for the first time since 14 April. The country reported 1,96,427 fresh Covid cases on Tuesday and 3,511 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.
On April 14, India recorded 2,00739 cases. This is the first time since April 14 that things are below the two-point mark.
On Monday, India had three deaths due to the coronavirus infections, becoming the third country in the world after the US and Brazil to cross three lacquer deaths.
India’s overall score of Covid-19 cases now stand at 2,69,48,874 with 25,86,782 active cases and 3,07,231 deaths so far.
In the last 13 days, India has recorded more than 50,000 deaths.
According to the Ministry of Health, 3,26,850 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, with 2,40,54,861 cured of Covid up to date.
The Ministry of Health said a total of 19,85,38,999 people had been vaccinated in the country so far, including 24,40,236 administered in the past 24 hours.
According to the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR), 33,25,94,176 samples were tested until 24 May for Covid-19. Of these 20,58,112 samples were tested on Monday.
India has record deaths due to Covid Wednesday with 4,529 deaths – the highest number of deaths since Covid infection in any country since the coronavirus outbreak was reported in China in Wuhan in December 2019.
It surpassed 4,468 deaths in the U.S. on January 12 and 4,211 in Brazil earlier on April 6. These three were hit hardest by the pandemic. Now India is behind the US and Brazil with the highest deaths due to Covid-19.
After struggling for weeks with a cruel second wave, fresh Covid business fell below the three lakh mark for the first time on 17 May after hitting a record high of 4,14,188 on 7 May.
