The all-new Mahindra Thar has become so popular in the Indian market that the waiting period on the car has reached almost one year in a few cities, depending on the colour and variant of the vehicle. Well, there are thousands who have also received the delivery of the vehicle and have tried and tested the vehicle in different scenarios. But some people go too far away. Here is one such owner of the brand-new Mahindra Thar, who took it too far into a lake and got stuck.

The exact location of the video is not known. The video posted by My Pajero Club starts when the good old Mitsubishi Pajero SFX had already started pulling the Thar out of the water body. The Pajero tows the Thar using a tow rope and slowly brings it out of water.

It seems like the Thar was stuck deep in the water. Since there is no video of what happened, we are not sure how the Mahindra Thar reached there and for how long it was stuck. However, as soon as the driver of the car opens the door, streams of water start coming out of the cabin. There is so much water that it keeps on coming for a few seconds. So we are assuming that the Thar was in the middle of the water for a good amount of time.

While the fog lamps of the Thar are switched on, we are not sure if the engine is still working in the car. The vehicle seems to be turned off and someone is trying to open the bonnet to get a view of the engine bay.

Any car can get stuck

It is not about the car and its capabilities but about the driver’s experience when it comes to off-road. Even highly capable SUVs including Jeep Wrangler, Range Rovers and Land Cruisers can get royally stuck if the driver is not careful enough. One should know the limits of the vehicle before taking it out to challenging situations. A different or more capable vehicle driven by the same person has high chances of getting stuck in a similar situation too.

No road-legal vehicle is good enough to not get stuck. That is why one should know the limits of the vehicle before venturing out in such locations. The all-new Thar offers a massive water wading depth of 650mm. However, with the stock tyres and no snorkel, getting into a deep water body can cause a lot of problems just like in this video.

No damping can cause a major accident

The video shows a person casually pushing the Pajero and staying close to the towing rope. However, there is no dampening on the rope. If the rope snaps during the towing or winching, it can whiplash and cause major injuries to anyone in the proximity. That is why dampening is always used by experts and professionals while rescuing a vehicle or towing a car.

If you do not have dampening material available, any object with decent weight like a wet sack, a winter jacket or even shoes hanging by strings can become good options. These dampening materials can absorb most of the whiplash impact and make the towing rope less harmful.
