Two booked for cruelty to animals

Thane, May 24 (UNI) The district police registered an FIR against two from Kulgaon of the district for allegedly holding captive three calves between ages of one to four for butchering in their shops the police said on Monday.
An offence under the provisions of the section 429 of the IPC and also Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Wild Life protection act has been registered against the duo the police said.

The police raided the shop and its adjoining gala in the intervening night of Saturday/Sunday and rescued the three calves and also seized the equipments and accessories in the shop for slaughter of the animal all totally valued at over Rs. 90 thousand the police said.

The police gave the names of the duo against whom the FIR is registered as Shaukat Bubere and Pappu Mazid the police said.
No arrest is made in this connection so far the police added.
