Rupee Opens Steady Against Dollar; US Dollar Index Sinks To Below 90

Rupee in trade on Tuesday (May 25, 2021) opened steady at 72.83 per US dollar. The day's range for the currency so far has been between 72.83 to 72.875.

 

The dollar index again has been seen weakening to below 90 mark at 89.76 as at 11:29 EDT.

In the bond market, the 10-year benchmark yield is trading at 5.97 percent.
Weekly unemployment data rose for the fourth straight week to the highest since June last year.

In the oil market, prices have been steady, holding close to 1-week highs after 3 percent gains in the preivous session as prospects of an Iran, an oil exporter, to the crude market lessened.

Brent crude futures traded lower at $68.40 per barrel by 0039 GMT, having jumped 3% in the earlier session. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures fell down to $65.97 a barrel.
