Pune: 75-year-old woman found murdered in Chakan was sexually assaulted, say cops

PUNE: Police on Tuesday arrested a 52-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 75-year-old woman whose partially disrobed body was found in her house in a village near Chakan on Monday.
Initial police investigation revealed that the woman was sexually assaulted before and after she was bludgeoned to death.
"The suspect is the neighbour of the deceased. After getting a tip-off about him, we traced him with the help of the dog squad," said a police officer.
"While questioning the neighbours, we got the information to that the suspect was seen near the woman's house in Monday. During questioning, he admitted his involvement in the murder," the officer said.
The officer said that the suspect knew that the woman was staying alone. On Monday he barged into her house and attempted to assault her sexually. "When the woman resisted him, the latter bludgeoned her to death with a blow pipe. The suspect later sexually assaulted the body and fled," he said.
