New Delhi: Around 300 students of class XII have sent a letter petition to Chief Justice of India NV Ramana to quash the decision of the CBSE to hold physical conduct of examination amid the COVID19 pandemic. Students have asked the Supreme Court to direct the government to provide alternative assessment schemes for them.
According to the reports, the CBSE is expected to hold class 12 board exams from July 15 to August 26 after a review meeting is done on June 1. The CBSE proposed conducting exams between July 15 and August 26 and the result to be declared in September.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ earlier had urged states to suggest ideas regarding the process to hold board exams this year by May 25. “I have requested the State Governments to send me their detailed suggestions by 25th May,” the education minister said after the meeting.
Earlier, various state governments have also expressed their opinion on conducting the class 12 board examination.

“CBSE board examinations should be conducted as it plays a vital role in students’ life. However, this can’t happen amid the current situation. But a tentative date should be announced. There is also an option of online examination,” Bihar Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary told ANI.
Jharkhand CM against holding Class 12 board examination amid the COVID-19 surge
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that holding the class 12 board examinations in the state would not be appropriate in the wake of the present COVID-19 situation. .“If the suggestions received from the stakeholders are considered, there is a consensus on the postponement of the examination. People feel that maintaining social distance will not be possible if the exams are conducted and children can get infected,” Soren said.
Haryana Board to Conduct Exam from Home Centre
Haryana state government and state board (BSEH) to conduct the class 12 state board examination in the respective schools of the class 12 students. There will be a provision of re-examination for students suffering from COVID-19 during the exam schedule.
