Xiaomis latest patent suggests a new foldable smartphone design in work
Xiaomi working on a foldable smartphone isn’t a mystery anymore. The company has already filed several patent applications regarding its foldable smartphone design. The company has published another patent for a flexible screen module.

The patent carries the publication number CN112839115A and the most highlighted feature is its nearly 100% screen-to-body ratio, according to a report by a Chinese website ITHomes.

Though the details about the patented design are pretty scarce, it does reveal a few design details.

As per the patent report, the new design carries two display areas combined using a hinge mechanism. There is a camera module on the sub-region of the second display which moves along with the hinge mechanism. This reportedly allows the camera to be used as both a front and rear camera.

The report suggests that when the front camera is not being used, the design will offer around 100% screen-to-body ratio.

The foldable design from Xiaomi feels unlike any other foldable smartphone in the market including the one from Xiaomi. But, it is an interesting design and somehow if the companyl manage to make this idea a reality, it will uncover a whole new chapter for a foldable smartphone.

For now, it is just a patent and it might take a while before the smartphone based on this idea becomes a reality.
