BENGALURU: Police on Monday arrested two domestic workers and their associate on theft charges and recovered 1kg gold and other valuables worth Rs 50 lakh. The arrested are C Sunaina, 25, from Chhattisgarh (prime accused), Meen Hajuddin Barbuyya, 27, of Assam, and Chandan Kumar Mohato of Bihar. Sunaina and Chandan worked in businessman Nitin Agarwal’s apartment in Yamalur as maid and cook, respectively. Another worker, Govind, too was residing with them. “Sunaina and Chandan hatched the plan when Nitin was away from home. The offence took place on March 31. But Nitin found out about it only on April 14. Incidentally, Govind had left for his hometown the previous night. Suspecting his involvement, Nitin first filed a complaint against him. Our team visited Govind in Bihar and found he was innocent,” police said. “Our team questioned the apartment security guards who revealed that on March 31, Sunaina had gone out on her employer’s two-wheeler and had hidden something near her legs. When we questioned her about this, she confessed to the crime. She had taken the locker and handed it over to Hajuddin, who was waiting near the apartment,” said an officer. “The three distributed the booty among themselves. Sunaina gave her share to Hajuddin, who sold it in Bengaluru and Assam. Chandan sold his share in Bihar,” police added.
