Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5150

Epson's latest EcoTank Pro printers are aimed at home offices and small businesses. The EcoTank Pro ET-5150 and EcoTank Pro ET-5170 are the ideal replacement for messy, expensive and heat-producing laser printers, according to the company.

The $639 EcoTank Pro ET-5150 and $649 ET-5170 multifunction printers are the new high-end models in the the Epson EcoTank range.

Shared features include 1200x2400 print resolution, print speeds of 17.5ppm for black text and 9.5ppm for colour text, double-sided printing, 250 sheet paper capacity, and an A4 flatbed scanner with 1200x240dpi resolution and a 35-sheet automatic document feeder.

EcoTank models are refilled with ink from bottles, and the initial supply is said to be good for 13,300 black pages and 5,200 colour pages. Replacement bottles (priced from $24.99)yield 7,500 and 6,000 pages respectively.

According to Epson, the cost per colour page is approximately two cents, based on the ISO standard test document. This, the company says, compares with around 27c per page for laser printers.

Other features include USB, Ethernet and Wi-Fi (with Wi-Fi Direct and AirPrint support) interfaces, colour touch-screen operation, and a 12-month warranty that's extended to 24 months when registered online within 12 months of purchase.

The ET-5170 adds fax capability.

Epson Australia managing director Craig Heckenberg said "The way we live and work has truly changed, and not just in the short-term. As people adapt to this new reality, it's important to have technology tools that not only ease the transition, but enable productivity, efficiency and help generate revenue.

"EcoTank Pro printers ensure small office, home office and business professionals can take full advantage of the benefits cartridge-free printers provide. They are also much better for the environment than laser printers."
