Gurgaon: For the first time this month, the city recorded less than 200 Covid-19 cases on Monday. The tally rose to 1,78,849 with 212 fresh cases, officials said. The last time the district had cases in the 200-250 bracket was on March 31 when it reported 276 fresh cases. After that, the cases began to rise.
On Monday, the positivity rate was recorded at 2% which was 1% down from Sunday’s 3%. The city’s active cases account for 3,936. This is a big relief as the numbers had hit nearly 40,000-mark around 20 days ago. As many as nine deaths were also reported in te city taking the toll to 763. The fatality rate stands at 0.4%. Onthe brighter front, the city witnessed 2,157 recoveries on Monday taking the tally to 1,74,150. The recovery rate stands at 93.8% at present.
Meanwhile, 93 people were sent to institutional quarantine facilities. So far, 14,90,409 people have been put under surveillance in the city. In the past 24 hours, the health authorities collected 9,250 samples for antigen and RT-PCR tests. Till now, 14,77,823 samples have been sent for testing, of which 12,89,724 returned negative while the results of 1,646 are awaited.
Meanwhile, the health department on Monday started distribution of home-isolation kits to Covid patients. The kit contains 15 items, including mask, medicines, a digital thermometer, a steamer, pluse oximeter and others. It is being provided free of cost to patients.
“Although the fresh cases have come down, we are focusing on Covid patients in home isolation and also we are monitoring high-risk families who can turn positive or critical in future. We have started distributing home isolation kits to ensure that patients at home do not turn critical suddenly,” said CMO Dr Virender Yadav.
At present, home isolation lasts for 10 days from the time symptoms are visible or test results come positive. People who are feeling unwell and are showing symptoms of Covid-19 are advised to have their sample tested immediately, and isolate themselves without waiting for the results. As soon as the results are released, the home isolation team will contact them to know their health condition. A home isolation kit, consisting of medicines for fever, cold and masks, will be sent to their residence.
