COVID-19: GHMC offers free hearse facilities

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will provide vehicles for transporting the deceased under its latest service ‘Antim Yatra Rathamulu’ launched on Monday to help share the financial burden of people performing the last rituals of their loved ones.

With the initiative, the GHMC will employ 14 vehicles across the city to transport the deceased to the crematorium or cemetery / cemetery without charging any fee.

The body will be taken directly to homes and hospitals to the crematorium site. Services began Monday in the Charminar zone and from Tuesday in other zones.

“The bodies will, in accordance with the provisions of Covid-19 guidelines. People can call us directly or use the service by calling GHMCs Covid Control Room- 040 21111111, ”said an official.
