Bangalore Chamber of Industry & Commerce (BCIC), the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association and CII have urged chief minister BS Yediyurappa to permit industries to resume operations in Karnataka as the current spell of lockdown has hit a number of stakeholders and disrupted the global supply chain.
Many states are permitting industries to operate with adherence to Covid-19 protocols. Some of the states have even treated export units along with their vendors/suppliers as part of "essential industries," they said in a joint appeal to the chief minister.
"Several automotive OEMs located in other states have started their operations about a week back and it is imperative that Karnataka based suppliers and their ancillaries are able to operate to avoid any supply chain disruption. Similar situations exist in several other industrial sectors too, and hence we are requesting your consideration to permit all industries to operate," the industry bodies said in their letter.
