The son of late Malayalam actor Rajan P Dev was taken into custody by the police at his residence for the suicide of his wife Priyanka. Unni Dev’s wife hanged herself at her paternal home earlier this month. Just before a day of her suicide she registered a case with the police about the physical abuse she has been going through at her maternal home.

The Nedumangad police team in ernakulam district took him into custody after ensuring that he had tested negative for COVID-19. On May 12, his wife priyanka was found hanging at her home at Vattappara. The Vattappara police station had then registered a case of unnatural death.

Also, the brother of the deceased filed a complaint of the abuse she had suffered at Unni's house. The local police then began their investigation into the case and it got halted because Unni was tested positive for COVID-19. After knowing that he tested negative for the virus, he was arrested by the cops.

Unni and priyanka had a love marriage in 2019 and post marriage she joined as a physical education teacher in a private school. Her relatives when contacted said that the marriage was going fine at the start, but things started to get worse with time.
