Stranger's Viral Video Helps Woman Find Out Truth About Her Mean Friends

With hundreds of millions of users worldwide, TikTok has the power to connect people.

So when one man overheard a group of people being nasty about their friend in a New York City park, he decided to use the app to let her know.

TikTok user @drewbdoobdoo made a video on May 18, with the caption: "TikTok don't let Marissa's friend group do her dirty like this!!!"

Speaking into the camera, the man then says: "I hate to be the one to stick my nose where it doesn't belong, but if you're name's Marissa, please listen up."

He then continues: "I just walked by your friends and I need to tell you that the weekend you're away is not the only time that they could do their birthday party.

"They are choosing to do it the weekend away, and you need to know."

The footage, which so far has 9.1 million views, then ends with a plea for TikTok users to help him find the Marissa in question.

And guess what? Yup, she was tracked down.

After having been sent the video by many on the app, a New Yorker named Marissa, who's account handle is @marissameizz, made a video response.

Speaking into the camera, she said: "OK so my name is Marissa, I live in New York City.

"I literally went on a road trip this weekend... One of my friends had a birthday party this weekend, and she knew I was going out of town and wouldn't reschedule it."

"I wanna know where you saw these people, because if it was in my neighborhood, it was definitely about me."

The clip has now been seen by 3.9 million people and was shared with the caption: "Please message me back I want to know if I need new friends hahahahha I'm not crying."

Marissa then made several follow-up videos revealing she had confirmation it was her that was being spoken about.

Many took to the comments section on her page, sharing encouraging messages to the young woman.

One TikTok user, Literalily, wrote: "Girl this is like the universe giving you a heads up!! It was meant to be, you deserve better friends."

Another person, Karen Wetzel, added: "omg this is so embarrassing for them."

An account called Nobody typed: "We should organize a legendary party for you and not invite any of these 'friends.'"

While Tommy added: "Say goodbye to them!! They didn't deserve you!! I'm glad you're looking on the bright side of all of this and you've got new friends too!"

And like all good stories there is a happy ending. Marissa has had an outpouring of invites and offers, and she has even met up with @drewbdoobdoo, sharing a video of the two having fun together in the park.

Newsweek have contacted @marissameizz and @drewbdoobdoo for comment.
