HYDERABAD: A government school teacher died under mysterious circumstances at FCI Colony in Vanasthalipuram on Monday. Police, who found the charred body of C Saraswati (40) in her house, are verifying if she took the extreme step of setting herself on fire owing to her husband’s harassment or is there any foul play. Vanasthalipuram police said Saraswati and her husband Balakrishna quarrelled with each other on Sunday night and on Monday morning also. The latter allegedly attacked his wife with his fist and later left the house to get tiffin. Their son and daughter Akshita were in two different rooms. Askhita, after attending an online class, came out of her room and saw her mother in flames at around 8.30 am and her father trying to save her. Police said Balakrishna suffered burns in the process. Saraswati died on the spot. On knowing about the incident, fire services reached the spot as a portion of the house also caught fire. The injured Balakrishna was shifted to hospital. A case was registered under Cr PC section of suspicious death. On seeing the fire, a large number of locals gathered at the house.
