The police seized 30 Remdesivir vials from the premises of the firm.
CHENNAI: A private pharmaceutical company’s proprietor was arrested for allegedly trying to sell Remdesivir in the black market in Chennai on Monday. A police team seized at least 30 Remdesivir medicines from his possession. The accused has been identified as G Senguttuvan, 34. The civil supplies CID officials visited his firm -- SGN Pharmaceuticals in Villivakkam. A policeman approached the company as a potential customer. After a round of negotiations, Senguttuvan and the policeman struck a deal to sell one Remdesivir vial for Rs 18,000. Following this, a team of police officers entered the firm and arrested Senguttuvan. The team inspected the firm’s premises and seized 30 Remdesivir vials. The team later handed him over to Villivakkam police station along with the seized vials. He was remanded in judicial custody after being produced before a magistrate court in the city on Monday.
